For the person who engaged in audio editing, of course not bother with the "how to loudness measure of the audio using the number". But here I try to share a bit of science behind the ways of the audio editing is just to help people who do not understand about mastering the science but wanted to know or analyze their collection album as very loud or quite standard. So maybe this will sound very simple but we hope can be helpful for people other than the audio engineer who also wanted to combat the Loudness War.

Loudness of the audio is measured in terms of db (decibels). and we will not explain this at length. Furthermore, the loudness can be measured or seen with the VU Meter.

VU Meter is: A unit designed to measure That Is perceived loudness changes in audio. The unit is Basically the change of the average decibel level as read by a VU Meter. The movement of the VU Meter is designed to approximately match the ear's response to changes in level.

VU Meter usually found on tools recording hardware, but you can also get a version of software (plugins). To run this plugin, you must have a Digital Audio Workstation software, such as Nuendo, Cubase, Sonar, Fruity Loops, Audacity and so on. Then you can perform the installation as well as on the plugin manually.

The average commercial song or album can be measured by the VU meter that has a value of-6dB = 0 (you can change the setting behind the plugin). If the audio file that you see until it reaches the red or exceed the audio is more than a standard loudness. and if the sound generated from the audio is broken, or exceeds the threshold, the VU meter will usually be marked with a red color raised lights up.

Please be downloaded VU Meter Loudness Measure for free, and hopefully can be useful. sorry if this article is very simple when viewed from the view of an audio engineer, but this is only one form of action to eliminate the loudness war.
